With more than 42 years of experience riding motorcycles, the open road has always represented something more than simply getting from one place to another.
But there was a time when the road had become a distant memory.
After leaving a successful corporate career—one that, from the outside, appeared to offer everything I could have wanted—I found myself confronting something I hadn't expected.
Emptiness.
Years spent in offices, meetings, conference rooms, and boardrooms had provided success, but somewhere along the way, the connection to the things that once mattered had begun to disappear. The demands of corporate life had become a prison of my own making.
So I left.
What followed was five transformative months on the road.
There was no boardroom to rush back to. No conference call waiting at the end of the day. No schedule dictating where I needed to be.
There was simply the motorcycle, the road ahead, and enough time to think.
The backroads have a way of doing that.
They slow things down. They create space. And somewhere between the miles, the mountains, the small towns, and the places you never planned to visit, you begin to hear your own thoughts again.
That experience became the foundation for Refined Renegade Co.
Why RRC Exists
Refined Renegade Co. was created for those who have spent years building successful lives but have reached a point where success alone isn't enough.
Our audience includes experienced riders, executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, and anyone who understands that sometimes the best way forward is to simply ride away for a while.
We believe motorcycle travel is about far more than the motorcycle itself.
It is about freedom, perspective, discovery, and the ability to step outside the life you've built long enough to remember why you built it in the first place.
RRC exists to explore that idea through motorcycles, travel, gear, camping, stories, and the roads that connect them all.

There are plenty of places to find motorcycle products.
There are plenty of places to find motorcycle routes.
And there are plenty of places to read product reviews.
We wanted to create something different.
Refined Renegade Co. is a motorcycle touring, camping, gear, and lifestyle journal built around the experience of the journey rather than simply the products that accompany it.
Our approach is intentionally more like a magazine, travel journal, and old-world outfitter brought together in one place. We curate experiences, complete setups, destinations, and equipment for riders who appreciate quality and thoughtful preparation.
Instead of simply asking:
What should I buy?
We ask a better question:
Where are you going—and what will make the journey better?

Alongside our real-world motorcycle travel and lifestyle content is The Julian Mercer Journal—a continuing fictional motorcycle journey grounded in authentic experience.
Julian Mercer is a successful businessman who has spent years building the kind of life most people would consider a success. Yet beneath that success is the growing realization that what he wants most is something money and professional achievement cannot provide:
his own time.
His journey begins when he finally walks away from the corporate life he has built and returns to something that had been waiting for him—the motorcycle and the open road.
From there, the Journal follows Julian as he moves from successful executive to motorcycle traveler, confronting the habits, expectations, fears, and need for control that he carried with him from his former life.
But Julian's story isn't entirely fiction.
That's what makes it different.
The Journal will weave together fictional storytelling and true experiences from five months spent on the road.
Real encounters. Real places. Real problems. Real surprises. Real moments of solitude.
